Job summary

Colonial Beach Public Schools seeks an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students at Colonial Beach High School. The role is a 10-month position with responsibilities across instructional support, behavior guidance, and materials preparation.

Starting date is immediate, with supervision by the Building Principal. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and ParaPro, with prior experience with children preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• ParaPro Assessment preferred.
• Two years experience working with children.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
• Ability to follow instructions and work with teachers and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Assists with support and management of all assigned students to the students’ best ability.
• Applies basic instructional techniques applicable to curriculum.
• Understands and follows through with oral and written instructions directed by teachers and administrators.
• Monitors students and controls behavior of students in classroom and non-classroom situations.
• Helps promote students’ independence, social skills, and self-help skills.
• Operates standard office equipment.
• Assists with monitoring students on playgrounds, getting on and off buses, and to and from the classroom.
• Prepares, compiles, and copies instructional materials as directed.
• Provides set up/clean up for instructional projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
