Memphis STEM Academy in Memphis, TN is seeking a dedicated full-time Teacher to develop and implement a standards-aligned curriculum and continuously improve instructional practices. The role reports to the Principal and network administrators with an immediate start date.

Responsibilities include creating curriculum maps, assessments, and engaging instruction for diverse learners, attending PLCs, and collaborating on school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • TN Professional Educator License preferred.
  • Eligibility for Tennessee Professional Educator License required.
  • Content area certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create standards-aligned curriculum with maps, unit plans, and lesson plans.
  • Develop interim, midterm, and final assessments.
  • Deliver engaging, rigorous instruction in whole-class and small groups.
  • Participate in PLCs and professional development sessions.
  • Analyze student achievement data and inform instruction.
  • Maintain data tracking and meet administrative deadlines.

Job description

Position Overview Teachers are entrusted with advancing the mission of Memphis Business Academy. Reporting to the Principal and various network administrators, teachers are responsible for the development and execution of a standards-aligned curriculum, continuous improvement of their instructional practices based on feedback, support, and adequate intellectual preparation on their part, and collaboration on areas of instructional and/or curricular need at the school. Teachers will be held accountable by the Principal, Chief Academic Officers and other network administrators in regard to their performance and growth, student achievement, and quality of delivery of instruction. The Teacher is a full-time position with an immediate start date.

Essential Functions
  • Create standards-aligned curriculum including curriculum maps, unit plans, and lesson plans
  • develop interim, midterm, and final assessments as needed
  • Develop and implement ambitious, standards-aligned lesson plans targeted with end goal of student performance at or above grade level expectations
  • Provide engaging, motivating, and rigorous instruction in whole-class and individual settings
  • Attend all Professional Learning Community Meetings and professional development sessions
  • Provide academic support and tutoring to small groups or individual students as needed
  • Work to continuously improve effectiveness in all instructional practices, using school’s teacher performance evaluation rubric as a guide Use feedback to make productive changes in performance
  • Analyze student achievement data in collaboration with the academic team
  • Implement data tracking system and use data to inform instructional development and delivery
  • Enter in student performance data in a timely manner
  • Complete all administrative requirements before given deadlines

  • Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in all professional development and learning activities
  • Participate in additional activities including field trips, monitoring of designated sporting events, and other required programs as needed throughout year

  • Minimum of one year working in urban education with a history of significant gains in student performance and/or growth (preferred)

  • Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities, including those with low skill level in a heterogeneously grouped classroom setting
