Job summary

Community Charter School of Cambridge (CCSC) seeks an English Language (EL) teacher to deliver ESL instruction to students across multiple grades and language levels. The role will design WIDA-based curricula and assess progress in English proficiency, while collaborating with general education staff to create appropriate supports for EL students.

The position requires Massachusetts ESL certification for grades 5-12 and a master’s degree in ESL, TESOL, or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Mass. certification in ESL grades 5-12.
• Experience developing curriculum for English Learners.
• Master's degree in ESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach ESL classes at Transitional and Foundational levels.
• Teach ESL classes for SLIFE students.
• Design and implement WIDA and Common Core based curriculum and lesson plans for Transitional and Foundational students.
• Work with general education teachers to support the creation of appropriate sheltering for EL students.
• Write quarterly progress reports on achievement of WIDA standards and English Language proficiency based on individual student goals.
• Participate in school‑wide data day by assessing EL performance data.
• Continually develop the ESL curriculum to meet changing student needs and external and internal requirements.
• Administer ACCESS and other EL‑related screenings and assessments as assigned.
• Participate in the Student Support Team and Instructional Leadership Team when requested.
