Job summary

KIPP Memphis Collegiate Middle is seeking an experienced High School ELA teacher to plan lessons aligned to our curriculum and support diverse learners. You will create a positive classroom environment, employ varied instructional methods, and implement district and school objectives while using diagnostic tools to guide interventions.

The role requires Tennessee licensure, a bachelor’s degree, and at least two years of teaching experience, with a master’s degree and urban/charter experience

Qualifications

• Requires active Tennessee state licensure and endorsement matching subject/grade
• Commitment to educationally underserved students and school design
• Bachelor's degree required; teaching experience preferred
• Master's degree or higher in education/teaching content area preferred
• Experience in urban schools and/or charter networks highly valued
• Highly Qualified status and content-area strength preferred
• Two+ years of teaching experience required
• Commitment to professional development and collaboration with staff

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study and unit/weekly/daily lessons aligned with the district curriculum
• Create conducive classroom environment for diverse learners
• Use varied instructional techniques and media
• Implement the school philosophy, KIPP Memphis curriculum, and objectives
• Use diagnostics to identify student needs for intervention/acceleration
• Maintain safety and discipline in classroom and school
• Keep accurate records per laws and policies
• Assist admin with policies and student life rules
• Be available to students/parents outside instructional hours
• Maintain professional relationships and engage in PD
• Perform other duties as assigned
