Qualifications

  • Massachusetts licensure or eligibility to obtain MA Educator Licensure.
  • Master's degree in counseling or related field.
  • Fluency in ASL and English is required.
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as students' academic advisory, monitoring progress and guiding course requests and post-secondary plans.
  • Provide formal and informal career and guidance counseling for high school students.
  • Identify issues affecting curriculum access and support related interventions.
  • Conduct transition assessments and share reports with families and districts.
  • Implement programs on decision-making, coping strategies, and identity development.
  • Assist with college applications and admissions processes and accommodations.
  • Collaborate with the CAPS DHHP Elementary/Middle School Counselor and host-school staff.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, goals, and transition plan development and monitoring.
  • Provide consultation to general education teachers and CAPS team.
  • Maintain student data and comply with state/federal regulations.
  • Create an inclusive, respectful environment and strong classroom management.
  • Engage in chaperone duties for school events; support prospective student evaluations.
  • Develop professional relationships with administration, teachers, and support staff.
