Job summary

Potterville Public Schools is seeking a part-time High School Boys Basketball Assistant Coach. This role reports to the varsity program and supports student-athletes in practice and competition, while upholding school and league standards.

The ideal candidate brings coaching experience, strong communication, leadership, and a solid understanding of high school basketball rules. CPR/First Aid certification and a positive, professional demeanor are required.

Qualifications

• Prior successful coaching experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all audiences.
• Evidence of strong leadership ability.
• CPR certification & first aid training.
• Is a positive role model.
• Understanding of high school basketball rules and regulations.
• Possesses a strong value system.
• Ability to work effectively with others: players, parents, teachers, administrators, patrons, and head coaches.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to the rules, regulations, and policies of the MHSAA and the Board of Education.
• Promotes and practices positive sportsmanship.
• Is prompt and accurate in submitting all required reports.
• Develops a good rapport with parents, patrons, assistants, teachers, and administrators.
• Works with other staff to assist athletes in maintaining eligibility.
• Works with the varsity coach to develop the program.
• Always uses appropriate language; and is well-groomed, appropriately dressed and presents a good appearance.
