Job summary

Fort Bend ISD is seeking a High School Head Band Director responsible for planning and implementing the instructional program for concert bands, marching bands, and color guard. This role requires coordinating all aspects of the band program which includes teaching high school band courses, managing instructional staff, and participating in professional development. Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or Performance and at least 5 years of teaching experience, along with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years full-time teaching experience.
• Minimum of 4 years participation in high school or college marching band and/or drum corps.
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement instructional programs for various band disciplines.
• Manage behavior and create conducive learning environments.
• Supervise instructional assistants and manage program activities.

Skills

Effective oral and written communications skills

Demonstrated proficiency on a wind or percussion instrument

Ability to interact appropriately with the public

Ability to collaborate with colleagues

Ability to market the instructional program

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or Music Performance

Master's Degree preferred

Valid Teaching Certification from Texas Education Agency
