Job summary

Sentara Health in Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Labor & Delivery Unit. The role involves cross‑training to scrub, circulate, recover, and labor/deliver, delivering comprehensive obstetrical care in a high‑acuity setting.

Required RN degree, Virginia license or compact, with BLS/NRP/PALS/Care certifications as per hire. Prior Labor & Delivery experience is strongly preferred and a sign‑on bonus may be offered.

Qualifications

• RN degree required; BSN/MSN preferred.
• Virginia RN license or compact multi-state license required.
• Labor & Delivery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent nursing care using critical thinking and the nursing process.
• Adhere to standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion and evaluation.
• Apply standards of professional performance such as ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
• Deliver care in a high‑acuity environment with support from physicians, residents, specialists, techs, and administrative staff.
