The Opportunity

You will play a pivotal role in the revitalization of a massive, historic building complex, transforming aged structures into modern, functional spaces. This role offers the unique challenge of blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary modifications. You will have the autonomy to solve complex structural puzzles while preserving the architectural integrity of a significant local landmark.

How You Will Make An Impact
  • Execute high-end finish carpentry and structural modifications within a massive complex of historic commercial buildings.
  • Analyze aging structural elements to determine the most effective methods for restoration and modern integration.
  • Construct and install custom wood frameworks, partitions, and cabinetry designed to match existing historic aesthetics.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance and masonry teams to ensure seamless transitions between old and new construction materials.
  • Interpret detailed architectural sketches and blueprints to replicate intricate trim work and specialized moldings.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace within active restoration zones to prevent project delays and ensure crew safety.
  • Document material usage and project milestones to ensure all restoration phases remain within budget and on schedule.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in commercial carpentry or historic restoration.
  • Proven expertise in operating a wide range of woodworking machinery and specialized hand tools.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and shop drawings with minimal oversight.
  • Experience working in large-scale commercial or industrial environments with aging infrastructure.
  • Physical stamina to navigate large job sites and handle heavy materials throughout the workday.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • Completion of a formal carpentry apprenticeship or specialized certification in historic preservation.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring junior carpenters or leading small crews on complex build-outs.
  • Advanced knowledge of traditional joinery techniques and modern adhesive technologies.
