Qualifications

• Current NYS HHA certification is required; CPR is preferred but not required.
• 3 years of experience working with a senior population; dementia/cognitive deficits experience preferred.
• Part-Time evening shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Responds promptly to requests for assistance from residents.
• Assists residents with AM/PM care, including skin, nail, hair, mouth care, dressing and grooming.
• Assists with bathing, showers and bed baths as scheduled or on request.
• Assists with toileting as required.
• Assists with eyeglasses, hearing aids, and dentures as required by residents.
• Transports residents and assists with admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Observes residents for health changes and reports to nurse.
• Completes documentation accurately within specified timelines.
• Keeps residents' areas tidy with light housekeeping.
• Follows all safety-related procedures at all times.
• Performs hourly resident checks.
• Facilitates/participates in activities and prescribed exercises.
• Adheres to behavioral management interventions to support functioning.
• Assists with meal service and dining area cleanup.
• Assists with putting away resident's personal laundry.
• Orders supplies and restocks as needed.
• Communicates resident hygiene and supply needs to social worker.
• Maintains and updates knowledge through training and in-services.
• Completes special projects/tasks as assigned by supervisor.

The duties below outline the general responsibilities associated with this position. Each of these duties is considered critical to effective department operations and our Mission. It is expected that all staff in this position will have satisfactory attendance and will perform these duties as assigned in a competent, cooperative, and timely manner. • Assists with efficient and pleasant meal service, including assistance with meals and clean up of dining area.

• Communicates resident personal hygiene and supply needs to social worker.
• Maintains and develops work-related knowledge and skills through continuous learning activities, attendance at inservices and workshops, etc.
• Completes special projects/tasks in support of effective department functioning as assigned by supervisor.

The following educational minimum requirements must be met by all incumbents:

General

Must be willing and able to work with older adults with mild to moderate dementia/memory deficits in a residential setting with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Education

Current NYS HHA Certification; CPR is preferred, but not required

Experience

3 years experience working with a senior population; previous experience working with those with dementia/cognitive deficits is preferred
