Job summary

Group14 Engineering seeks a hands-on HERS Rater Field Technician to perform energy and green building inspections for multifamily and affordable housing projects in Colorado. The role balances 80% field work with 20% office tasks, requiring strong communication and problem-solving in a hybrid Denver office setting.

You will leverage a solid building science foundation, HVAC knowledge, and RESNET HERS Rater credentials to verify energy performance and support codes and programs.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of field work with blower door or duct leakage testing.
• Knowledge of residential HVAC systems (heat pumps, furnaces, AC, ventilation).
• Current RESNET HERS Rater certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• General building science understanding for multifamily construction.
• Ability to use HVAC diagnostic tools and document field findings.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% and work from Denver office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections and performance testing on multifamily buildings (air-sealing, insulation, envelope, duct leakage).
• Document field verification for ENERGY STAR, NGBS, EGC, and energy code compliance.
• Perform quality installation verification of residential HVAC systems.
• Prepare clear field reports for clients after inspections.
• Provide guidance to contractors based on building science principles.
• Coordinate inspection scheduling with project managers, contractors, and site superintendents.
