Job Summary
The Account Manager owns the B2B customer relationship in large, complex healthcare delivery networks. Serves as the primary liaison with our largest customers and engages C/D level clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to understand needs and deliver a customized value proposition. Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales performance objectives in an assigned territory by developing and executing an integrated territory business plan. Provides scientific and clinical information within the disease-state area and approved products. Delivers clinically oriented sales presentations to physicians, APPs, medical staff, and clinic personnel using a customer engagement selling model. Maximizes customer engagement with available resources and participates in training and development programs while adhering to industry and corporate policies and procedures. Successful outcomes include encouraging appropriate product use within indicated patient populations and servicing accounts aligned to the brand strategy.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Build partnerships with large organized customers, including IDNs, academic centers, and key decision-makers (e.g., Chief Medical Officers, Pharmacy Directors, Infectious Disease Specialists, P&T Committee members).
- Achieve and exceed sales targets within the assigned territory by developing and executing an integrated business plan for key accounts.
- Identify and engage key influencers to meet interaction expectations, focusing on top target customers.
- Plan and organize activities to meet call metrics, optimize coverage and frequency, and maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Deliver comprehensive clinical brand presentations to physicians and other healthcare professionals to drive appropriate product utilization.
- Understand the healthcare delivery system within each assigned customer, including physician hierarchy and key clinical staff.
- Develop in-depth product and competitor knowledge; stay informed about local and regional market trends.
- Analyze local trends to identify long- and short-term goals and craft product launch business plans.
- Collaborate with peers to share best practices and strategies.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze the effectiveness of sales activities and territory performance, and develop territory plans with leadership to deliver exceptional customer experience.
- Manage the territory budget to support sales and marketing activities.
- Complete administrative tasks promptly and execute the brand strategy and tactics within the geographic area.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain adherence to all corporate and industry policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- Valid driver's license.
- Travel required: Up to 50% (based on district size).
- Employment level eligibility based on experience: Account Manager 6 (minimum 5 years biotech/pharmaceutical experience) or Account Manager 7 (minimum 3 years biotech/pharmaceutical experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven success in product launch sales.
- Hepatology experience preferred.
- Track record of achieving sales targets and goals.
- Expertise in account selling and managing complex sales processes.
- Deep knowledge of the Health Systems business model, organizational structures, and stakeholder roles (P&T, formulary, etc.).
- Experience calling on C/D level within large, complex healthcare networks (e.g., IDNs).
- Experience with lateral leadership in a matrixed organization.
- Ability to work independently and in a team; data-driven to create actionable business plans.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing market conditions.
- Strong commitment to patient outcomes and regulatory/compliance standards.
- Exceptional presentation and selling skills with solid business acumen.
- Fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Tagalog preferred.
Requirements
You will be required to travel up to 50% of the time, with potential overnight stays. Lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Salary information: The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $162,750 to $271,250, depending on location and experience. This role offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in a long-term incentive program. Available benefits include health care and other insurance, retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid leave allowances.
