Job summary

Hammock Beach Resort in Destin, FL, seeks a Recreation Supervisor to assist the manager with operations of our resort recreation facilities including health club, pool, and related areas. This role leads day-to-day activities and events while supervising Kids Crew, putting green, and bike rentals.

You will coordinate with other departments, provide exceptional guest service, and maintain documentation and supplies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a recreation environment, preferably resort oriented.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and ability to work with all ages.
  • Must be well organized, creative, and a self starter.
  • Must be CPR, First Aid, and AED Certified.
  • Strong English reading/writing; proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and POS systems.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds and work outdoors in Florida climate.
  • Flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and promote Hammock Beach Resort principles; guide staff in kids crew, putting green, and bike rentals.
  • Provide direction to and supervise staff in Kids Crew, putting green, and bike rentals.
  • Monitor day-to-day Kids Crew programming with groups of varying ages.
  • Attend meetings; coordinate with departments to carry out duties.
  • Provide exceptional public relations and guest service; stay current on recreation trends.
  • Maintain schedules, inventory, waivers, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Monitor supplies, create purchase orders, and order materials timely.
  • Lead by example; be a positive role model for staff.
  • Contribute ideas for programming growth and development.
  • Ensure quality assurance of programs and high guest satisfaction.
  • Daily 5-sense checks of Kids Crew, Putting Green, Bike Operations and surrounding areas.
  • Communicate through digital channels.

Job description

The Recreation Supervisor assists the manager with the operations of a hotel or resort's recreation facilities, which may include a health club and/or fitness center, pool, and associated locker rooms. This position will lead and assist in planning, coordination, and supervision of all day-to-day activities and programs, including all holiday and group events for Hammock Beach Resort. The direct supervision of the Kids Crew Counselors is an integral part of this position but also extends to putting green and bike rental operations including direct supervision of all staff. This individual must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, innovative, and dependable.

Key Skills & Responsibilities
  • Must understand and promote the guiding principles of Hammock Beach Resort as well as the Recreation and Kids Crew departments.
  • Use the above principles to provide direction to and supervise the staff in kids crew, putting green, and bike rentals.
  • Monitors the day to day operations of Kids Crew programming and activities, working with both small and large groups of people of variable ages.
  • Attending meetings and coordinates effectively with all departments within and outside of Hammock Beach to carry out job duties.
  • Provides exceptional public relations and customer service. Awareness of resort and member happenings, all to provide better service to our guests and members as well as keep current on recreation trends.
  • Maintaining documentation, including but not limited to schedules, inventory, pre-registration, legal waivers, and disciplinary action when needed.
  • Assisting in monitoring supplies needed to carry out activities and programs and keeping a par level, creating PO’s, and ordering supplies in a timely manner.
  • Lead by example, always be an exceptional role model for all staff both within and outside of the department.
  • Work on special projects and contribute ideas to the growth and development of the programming.
  • Assists in maintaining quality assurance of all programs, while maintaining outstanding levels of guests and members service.
  • Responsible for daily 5-sensing of Kids Crew, Putting Green, Bike Operations and the surrounding area, keeping all areas neat, clean and in good repair.
  • Communicate through preferred methods, including digital channels.

Education & Experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a recreation environment, preferably resort oriented with emphasis on corporate, family, and children’s activities.
  • Must have knowledge of age appropriate activities and enjoy working with all age groups.
  • Must be well organized, creative, and a self starter.
  • Must be CPR, First Aid, and AED Certified.
  • Must be able to read, write, and converse in the English language, with a strong knowledge of computer programs specifically Word, Excel, Power Point, and POS Systems.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, shove, pull, transcend steps, lift and carry 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in Florida sub-tropical climate for an extended amount of time.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
