The role focuses on building trust in the company, its science, and products, while developing account plans and collaborating with commercial teams. Ideal candidates will have 4+ years in biotech/pharma sales, with experience in Hematology/Oncology or rare diseases preferred.

Summary

The Hematology (PNH) Account Manager is a field sales position and will represent Biogen to all relevant key health care professionals (HCPs) and accounts in the assigned geography with the goal of building trust in the company, its values, its science, and the product. They will be accountable for deep understanding of those HCPs and accounts and building effective territory and key account plans that address all pertinent stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem. The Hematology (PNH) Account Manager will create and implement account plans in collaboration with other Biogen customer‑facing teams aligned to their geography. In addition, the Hematology (PNH) Account Manager will identify regional influencers, treatment patterns, and help to map referral networks. Further, they will serve as the lead point of contact for other account management activities, such as speaker programs, executing marketing tactics, and other commercial needs.

Roles and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Include
  • Build and maintain proficiency in relevant disease states, patient and clinic experience, market landscape, and product.
  • Drive company revenue by achieving all sales/marketing objectives and goals.
  • Serve as the primary commercial interface with key accounts, being accountable for the overall customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of and relationship with key accounts, including all relevant stakeholders (e.g., physicians, nurses, office staff, management, etc.).
  • Establish and execute against business plans for key accounts in alignment with franchise strategy and resources. Effectively communicate those plans and lead key account strategy discussions with leadership, building understanding and support.
  • Assess the treatment patterns and referral networks affiliated with key accounts.
  • Work collaboratively and compliantly with multiple stakeholders, including patient services, field access (reimbursement support), medical affairs, and operations teams, in order to achieve account objectives.
  • Goes above and beyond to help fellow team members and Hematology (PNH) Account Manager colleagues when needed. Proactively shares knowledge and expertise with others to contribute to the team's overall success.
  • Effective utilization of all approved resources to help achieve territory and account objectives.
  • Proactively communicate with Hematology Sales Director on a routine basis to discuss/share ideas, challenges, and best practices.
  • Responsible for sharing field insights back with the home‑office team, including any innovative engagement tactic ideas, as well as participating in internal workshops and insight readouts as needed.
  • Operate with a high level of professional integrity, within established guidelines and policies, and in alignment with the Biogen culture and values.
Experience
  • BA/BS degree
  • 4+ years of biotech/pharma sales and account management experience
  • Experience working in Hematology/Oncology and/or rare disease is preferred, however, specialty sales experience in other disease states with also be considered

  • Expertise in creating and executing on customer / account plans, informed by local knowledge and aligned to strategy and tactics provided by headquarters

  • Demonstrated integrity on the job, including an understanding and deep respect of relevant rules and regulations within the pharma sector
  • Must live in territory. Willing to travel domestically up to 75% of the time, including overnights, depending on territory.
  • Must be willing and able to fully comply with all applicable credentialing requirements for customer interactions.

Pay Information

Base salary for this role will consider multiple factors, including but not limited to, candidate qualifications, relevant expertise, specialized skills, and industry experience in complement‑targeted therapies. The targeted base salary range for this position is $138,000-$200,000. This range represents the base salary only and reflects Apellis' commitment to competitive compensation within the biopharmaceutical industry. The final salary offered may vary based on individual qualifications, business needs, and current market conditions.
