Job summary

Oregon Specialty Group is seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician to join our practice at Newport/Lincoln City, Oregon. You will manage inpatient consults and an outpatient clinic, collaborating with a team of partner and associate physicians as part of the Samaritan Cancer Program.

You will provide complex cancer care, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and guide patients through diagnosis and options while maintaining quality of life.

Qualifications

• Board Certified /Board Eligible MD with 2-3 years' experience.
• Currently active full unrestricted Oregon Medical license or ability to obtain
• Current DEA license or eligible to obtain
• Strong technical/computer skills and EMR experience required.
• Problem solving skills and ability to multi- task
• Team player with excellent communication skills
• An empathetic, compassionate nature that allows you to sensitively guide people through their course of cancer care
• Emotional resilience to cope with the demands of delivering difficult news

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs and develop treatment plans
• Participate as a key member of the patient-care team in implementing treatment plans and monitoring progress
• Utilize and promote approved standards of care, procedures, methods, safety precautions, and study protocols
• Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of standard operating procedures
• Function collaboratively with the APP team
• Order tests including biopsy, blood, and imaging to confirm a diagnosis
• Provide patients with information regarding cancer, prognosis, and treatment options
• Develop treatment plans with measurable goals aligned to patient preferences
• Maintain quality of life by managing cancer-related pain and treatment side effects
• Reassess disease and pursue alternative therapies or palliative care when necessary
• Participate in training for study protocols and clinical trials, ensuring patient confidentiality
• Daily schedule: Monday-Friday, 34 patient-facing hours per week
• Shared weeknight and weekend on call every 6th week; no weekends or holidays unless on call

Position Overview

• Hematology and Oncology inpatient consult service and outpatient clinic care
• Within our hematology and oncology service line, we have an established team of 8 Partner Physicians, and 6 Associate Physicians
• We enjoy strong relationship s with Salem Hospital, Samaritan Health Services, Legacy Hospitals, Willamette Valley Hospital and other supporting community practices
• Our physicians that practice within the Samaritan Cancer Program get the chance to provide patients exceptional care at two clinic sites.
• The Samaritan care team work s alongside Samaritan Health's front line staff and OSG's excellent APP Team.
• Your care team is made up of a blend of OSG and Samaritan Health staff of APPs, RNs, MAs, LCSWs, RDs, PharmDs and business office staff who handle prior authorizations, treatment infusions and oral chemotherapies, procedures, and patient communication so that you can focus on your patients

Essential Job Functions
