The Hematologist/Oncologist will provide expert outpatient consultation and treatment in the Hematology/Oncology clinic, coordinating with Primary Care and other services within the Hudson Valley Health Care System. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; duties include triage of referrals, medical history review, orders, treatment plans, and on‑call coverage.

• Triage and prioritize outpatient hematology/oncology referrals; obtain histories, conduct exams, order tests, and plan treatments.

The staff Hematologist/Oncologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic; as well as provide feedback and consultation with the other services within the Hudson Valley Health Care System.
• The Physician will evaluate, triage, and prioritize requests from Primary Care providers and others for outpatient hematology/oncology subspecialty consultations.
• They will obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
• The Hematologist/Oncologist will coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
• The Hematologist/Oncologist will perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).
• Provide Hematology/Oncology on-call services as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday; 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Tour will be discussed during interview process.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
