About The Role

The Jr. Machinery Mechanic is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of industrial machinery under close supervision. This entry‑level role supports senior mechanics in diagnosing issues, performing basic repairs, and ensuring equipment is safe and operational.

This job profile is intended for entry‑level support staff who follow specific instructions and procedures, with supervision provided for non‑routine situations. Tasks can be carried out after basic training or demonstration.

Essential Functions

• Use and operate forklifts.
• Observe company safety policy and procedures; follow all STS safety policies and ISO procedures.
• Be on the job site and in the assigned work area at the scheduled time.
• Be self‑motivated and willing to learn.
• Handle department recycling and remove all trash daily.
• Assure all cables, shackles, straps and chains are put away daily.
• Keep work area clean and well organized during all phases of the project.
• Work closely and clearly communicate with other departments, including supervisors, managers, leadmen, and hourly personnel.
• General cleanup of department change rooms and restroom facilities.
• Provide assistance to core departments as required.
• Follow STS dress code and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
• Maintain Lean objectives within the department.
• Perform specialized tasks as required.
• Maintain accurate timesheets daily.
• Complete company‑required training programs.
• Steam clean and wash parts in the wash bay.
• Transport equipment and parts around and between departments.
• Use PPE as identified in risk assessments or other related safety documents.
• Do not undertake activities that have not been risk assessed or where an assessment is not available.
• Report any instances of spillage, uncontrolled exposure or other related safety issues to the line manager.
• Ensure correct use of waste segregation facilities and efficient use of natural resources and raw materials.
• Be able to work overtime when necessary.
