Job summary

Bilfinger is seeking an ISP Offshore Helper to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install and maintain piping systems and related equipment offshore. The role requires reading plans, working with a range of pipe materials, and extensive safety practices including respirator use.

Qualifications

• Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install and maintain piping systems offshore.
• Read building plans or working drawings to determine layout and installation.
• Must wear full-face respirator or blast hood and work in remote locations for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Select type and size of pipe and related materials per job specifications.
• Inspect worksites to determine obstructions and structural integrity.
• Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and conflicts with other workers.
• Cut pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer, chisel, cutting torch, or pipe cutting machine.
• Thread pipe and end by hand or with threading machine; fit and join using various methods.
• Assemble and install metal/nonmetal piping and fittings including brass, copper, lead, glass and plastic.
• Join piping by threaded, calked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused or cemented joints.
• Secure pipes to structure with clamps, brackets and hangers using hand tools.
• Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps and meters.
• Test piping system for leaks by pressurizing and observing gauges.

ISP Offshore Helper

Primary Purpose:

Lay out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems, on basis of knowledge of system operation and study of building plans or working drawings.

Typical Duties:

• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
• Inspects worksites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness.
• Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
• Cuts pipe, using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
• Threads pipe, using threading machine, ends pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine.
• Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.
• Joins piping by means of threaded, calked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using handtools.
• Installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
• Tests piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing and walking throughout the shift.
• Climbing, stooping, bending, balancing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
• Must be able to wear a full-face respirator or blast hood for extended periods.
• May be required to work in extremely tight spaces or on elevated/suspended platforms.
• Must be willing to work in remote locations for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds often and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
• Needs Firewatch and confined space training.
• This is an offshore position, Water safety training is required.
