Job summary

Meridian Waste Columbia Hauling seeks a Driver Helper to assist the Driver on a residential route. You will help load waste, direct the driver from the ground, and assist with vehicle cleanliness and safety checks. The role emphasizes safety, courtesy to customers, and teamwork on a daily basis.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma and 1–3 years in a similar position; Solid Waste experience is preferred. The job includes a standard benefits package and 40-hour week expectations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• 1-3 years of experience in a similar position.
• Experience in the Solid Waste Industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate packing mechanism and levers to activate the lifting/loading system.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body; spray and clean hopper and truck if applicable.
• Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspection; report safety issues.
• Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers and others to ensure timely service.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
• Clean area around spills, following all safety policies.
• Maintain productivity standards for timely customer service.
• Follow all required safety policies; perform other duties as assigned.

Enjoy a positive work environment, modern equipment, and opportunities to grow your career.Summary:The Driver Helper rides on the vehicle and assists the Driver in providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers who reside on a designated residential route. Position is responsible for safely loading waste, as well as carrying bags and containers to the vehicle for disposal. The position assists the Driver in maneuvering his or her vehicle by directing the Driver from the ground.
