Job summary

Wood is seeking Carpenter Helpers to join our Houston, TX team. This role involves interpreting work orders, following blueprints, handling materials, and using power and hand tools safely to build and assemble forms and frameworks.

You will work with skilled trades, perform concrete forming, rebar work, rigging, crane hand signals, and ensure safety and quality on site. U.S. work authorization required.

Qualifications

  • Experience reading blueprints or job orders.
  • Ability to use power and hand tools safely.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret information from work orders and blueprints.
  • Apply safe usage of power and hand tools for the job.
  • Handle materials and build/brace concrete forms and frameworks.
  • Select and safely use equipment such as manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks.
  • Demonstrate safe rigging practices and crane hand signals.
  • Pour, finish, and tie rebar and anchor bolts as required.
  • Measure and cut materials to size and assemble wood or metal structures.
  • Ensure scaffold integrity and proper epoxy grout handling on site.

Wood is currently sourcing for Carpenter Helpers to join our team in Houston, Texas. U.S. Only: Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately interpret and applyinformation from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints,ISO’s or other drawings and recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols for job application
  • Identify, recognize anddemonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools appropriate for thejob
  • Recognize various materials usedin piping systems and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques
  • Select and safely use appropriateequipment which may include (but not limited to) manlifts, forklifts, andcompany trucks
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skillsin safe rigging practices
  • Identify, explain and performcrane hand signals
  • Demonstrate ability to properlybuild and brace concrete forms using various systems.
  • Demonstrates ability to cut,bend, install and tie rebar
  • Demonstrate ability to anchor bolts
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in pouring and finishing concrete
  • Demonstrate knowledge and abilityto recognize a correctly built scaffold
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skillsin the handling and application of Epoxy grouts
  • Measure materials or distances, using square, measuring tape, or rule to lay outwork
  • Cut or saw boards, timbers, or plywood to required size, using handsaw, powersaw, or woodworking machine
  • Assembleand fasten material together to construct wood or metal framework ofstructure, using bolts, nails, or screws
  • Anchor and brace forms and other structures in place, using nails, bolts, anchorrods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers
  • Markcutting lines on materials, using pencil and scriber
  • Bore bolt holes in timber, masonry or concrete walls, using power drill
