Job summary

VIVA USA Inc. seeks a seasoned HEDIS Data Abstraction Specialist in Chicago to support the HEDIS Effectiveness Data and Information Set project. You will review and abstract medical records, ensure accuracy, and maintain low documentation errors while following NCQA guidelines and HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in medical record review or HEDIS environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology and data abstraction.
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
Data entry and/or typing experience.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.
Auditing experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

Review and abstract medical records according to specifications and training guidelines.
Use software applications to support HEDIS operations by entering data and updating chase status.
Make notations on electronic records of qualifying HEDIS data.
Perform accurate data entry and identify patterns of missing documentation for additional records.
Maintain a documentation error rate under 5% in record abstraction and data entry.
Follow HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
Collaborate with HEDIS Coordinator/QI Specialists to discuss efforts and open issues.
