Job summary

Fort Riley, KS-based Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic (WG 8) position. Direct Hire Authority recruitment for US Army Reserve Regional Support Command. Duty involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of military equipment with occasional travel and relocation support.

Position requires active membership as a Soldier in the US Army Reserve, Class A CDL within 180 days, and successful medical examination. Relocation costs may be paid if in best interest of the government.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform preventive maintenance checks and services.
• Conduct basic operational inspections to ensure vehicles are properly serviced.
• Operate equipment to check work.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain a variety of construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and power generation equipment.
• Repair and replace components of cooling, braking, exhaust, power train, or hydraulic systems on combat and tactical, automotive, and powered support equipment.
• Remove, adjust, or replace defective or worn parts and components.
• Perform operational inspections and ensure vehicles are properly serviced and repaired.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and services.
• Perform minor body work.
• Assist higher graded repairers in more complex repairs such as engines, transmissions, differentials, steering boxes, and fuel injection pumps.
• Operate motor vehicles to check work.
