Job summary

Vertiv Co. is seeking a Heavy Lift and Rigging Specialist to safely load, unload, and install oversized components for data center infrastructure. You will operate forklifts and cranes, read blueprints, and coordinate lifts with the team to meet project specifications.

The role requires physical stamina to lift up to 75 pounds, overtime and weekend work, and strict adherence to OSHA and site safety standards on active construction sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience operating oversized forklifts and working around mobile cranes.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
• Knowledge of rigging practices and safe lifting procedures.
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work significant overtime at times and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate oversized forklifts, gantry cranes, mobile cranes, and other heavy equipment to safely lift, transport, and position oversized materials and structural components.
• Load and unload fabricated steel, generators, transformers, LV/MV gear, cooling equipment, and other large infrastructure components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, rigging plans, and installation specifications.
• Set, align, and secure oversized equipment and structural assemblies according to project requirements and tolerances.
• Utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments to assemble, modify, and install structural components.
• Perform rigging activities using chains, slings, shackles, spreader bars, and lifting devices in accordance with approved lifting procedures.
• Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, team coordinators, and supervisors to execute complex lifts safely and efficiently.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections on forklifts, cranes, and tools.
• Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, and lifting protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation of equipment inspections, lift plans, and completed work.
• Assist with site preparation, material handling, equipment staging, and other construction activities as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
