Job summary

HOLT CAT is seeking an experienced Heavy Haul Driver in Irving, TX to transport CAT equipment and industrial loads to customer sites and branch stores. You will maintain DOT logs, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires CDL-A with endorsements, at least five years of verifiable heavy haul driving, and the ability to travel up to 100% as needed.

Qualifications

• Five years of verifiable heavy haul driving experience required; eight+ years preferred.
• Three years verifiable driving experience with a 7- or 8-axle configuration truck required; five+ preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with Class A CDL and endorsements; maintain licensure.
• Must obtain a DOT Physical and have a safe driving record and DOT card.

Responsibilities

• Transports equipment deliveries and pickups with promptness, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Secures equipment on the truck and ensures materials meet state/federal guidelines for safe transport.
• Completes DOT daily logs accurately and maintains inspection reports.
• Performs pre- and post-vehicle inspections and reports needed repairs; maintains vehicle cleanliness.
• Maintains housekeeping and safe environment in shop; supports other departments as needed.
• Completes documentation for rentals, check-outs, receipts, permits, etc., on a timely basis.
• Travels up to 100% as required by assignments.

Job description

This position is responsible for the safe transportation of industrial and commercial parts and large CAT construction equipment to and from various customer job locations and branch stores, while adhering to company safety regulations and state laws. This position has major responsibilities to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction. Must be able obtain a DOT Physical and possess a valid commercial driver license class A with proper endorsements. Must have a safe driving record. Must be able to maintain a DOT Card with CDL A. Must have minimum 5 years of verifiable experience.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements: Generally has more than five years of experience and/or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge/skills. Possesses moderate knowledge of the field's standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting.

Essential Functions

• Transports all equipment deliveries and pickups in a positive, caring manner while striving for promptness, accuracy, and efficiency
• Secures equipment onto the truck and ensures that materials meet state and federal guidelines for safe transport and vehicle capabilities. Assists other departments whenever required in an efficient manner
• Completes DOT-required drivers' daily logs accurately and without misrepresentation
• Completes driver's daily inspection report, making recommendations for repair or maintenance, as well as being responsible for the clean appearance of the company assigned vehicle
• On an accurate and timely basis, completes and submits all related documentation to maintain the established business systems/process and ensures that the company is achieving its business goals. (I.e. Rental agreements, equipment check-out, and check-in reports return receipts, pick up receipts, non-movement, permits, etc.)
• Ensures that all physical resources (overall shop appearance, staging area, tools, parts, inventory, personal hygiene, etc.) are maintained in a clean, working order to ensure a safe working environment and exceptional customer satisfaction
• Perform pre- and post-vehicle inspection; Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition, before, during, and after delivery trips
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Sound knowledge of CAT construction equipment/ operation, and industrial engines, transportation DOT guidelines, and safe driving procedures
• Knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT guidelines
• Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
• Quality control analysis skills - conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
• Operation and control skills - controlling operations of equipment or systems
• Equipment selection skills - determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
• The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions

Education and Experience

• Five years of verifiable heavy haul driving experience required, over eight years preferred
• Three years verifiable driving experience operating a 7 or 8-axle configuration truck is required, and five or more preferred
• Valid Texas Driver's License with Class A CDL required to include the ability to maintain the Valid Texas Driver's License

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time
• Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.

• Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
