Job summary

Black Hills Trucking LLC is hiring for a full-time, on-site truck driving role in Freeport, Texas. The position requires a Class A CDL, strong safety focus, and the ability to meet DOT requirements. Expect long hours, travel to drill sites, and responsibilities for maintaining vehicle and log records.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate safely and professionally in heavy hauling environments.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
• Maintains logs and records in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Trained in recognizing hazards such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S).

Responsibilities

• Drive truck or equipment as dispatched, including long-distance or drill-site trips.
• Follow DOT safety requirements and report compliance issues to supervisor.
• Follow company policies per Driver Standards and procedures.
• Read MSDS and handle materials according to procedures.
• Load, unload, and secure freight and equipment safely at sites.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and roadside repairs as needed.

What You'll Do:

• Drive truck or equipment in a safe and careful manner as dispatched, including to outlying locations; travel and work for extended periods as necessary for drill site requirements, customer work orders, and miscellaneous company assignments.
• Follow rules and regulations of the industry as required by the Department of Transportation; maintain current knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Report compliance problems to supervisor.
• Follow company policies and procedures as required in the Driver and Operator Standards and Procedures and Driver and Operator Point System. Report compliance problems to supervisor.
• Read and is knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for all goods being hauled. Know proper handling and disposal procedure for substances requiring specialized handling and disposal.
• Know and follow the proper safe methods to load and unload freight, machinery, equipment, and materials at customer locations, drill sites, refineries, gas plants, and other worksites as required.
• Perform basic maintenance requirements such as replacing hoses, fittings, and couplings. Perform miscellaneous emergency roadside equipment repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, and making acceptable temporary repairs.
• Keep daily written vehicle and personal records as required; comply with rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other federal, state, and local agencies; and follow company policies and procedures to maintain and report truck and driver information.
• Make sound independent decisions in the absence of an area supervisor based on standard procedures, rules, regulations, experience, and knowledge of the job environment. Call in to report problems or extraordinary circumstances and follow instructions received.
• Remain alert to potential hazardous concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Is trained in and understands the dangers and ramifications of the presence of H2S and carries H2S training card on person at all times.

What We're Looking For:

Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities

• Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and an attitude conducive to safety.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to meet physical requirements established by the Department of Transportation (DOT), including drug/alcohol testing.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with all endorsements.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• English language fluency, verbal and written.
• Acceptable results of a DOT physical.
• Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
