Job summary

Republic Services in Mount Vernon, KY, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, diesel and gasoline vehicles, and related systems, including hydraulics, electrical, and emissions.

You will read repair orders, document parts used, and work with fleet software, while following safety policies and maintaining certifications.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge in air brakes, tires, hydraulics, advanced electrical, drive train, suspension and wheel-end components evidenced by ASE Certification.
• At least 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy equipment.
• Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree and ASE-related certifications.
• Experience with Tier 4 emission systems.
• Welding and/or fabrication skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment.
• Performs repair or preventative maintenance on electrical, diesel and gasoline vehicles, including compactor, excavator, wheel loader, and other vehicles.
• Reads and interprets equipment condition reports and repair orders; communicates defects and preventive techniques to operators.
• Completes paperwork for repairs, parts usage, and time tracking.
• Records hours, fuel and oil usage in daily reports and input systems.
• Collects and interprets analyses from oil sampling and fleet management software.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Performs overhauls on gas or diesel engines.
