Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in Indiana County is offering a CDL Operator Trainee role designed to develop hands-on skills in highway and bridge maintenance.

You will train to operate trucks and loaders, perform safety checks, and learn environmental compliance while advancing toward future opportunities within the public workforce. Full-time, daytime hours with no telework option.

Qualifications

• Must possess an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License on or before first day of work.
• Must possess an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on first day of work.
• Must possess an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate per FMCSA regulations on first day of work.
• Position requires Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and loaders and complete required safety checks.
• Perform manual tasks using hand and power tools for maintenance activities.
• Follow safety procedures and report injuries or incidents promptly.
• Maintain worksite awareness and communicate hazards to crew leaders.
• Install tire chains and prepare machinery for safe operation.
• Follow environmental protection rules during maintenance activities.
