Job summary

The City of Ardmore is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Worker to support the Public Utilities Department. You will assist with repairs and preventive maintenance on machinery and sewer lines, operate trucks and power tools, and communicate effectively with supervisors and storekeepers to ensure timely repairs.

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a valid Class A CDL and the ability to obtain an ODEQ Class D Operator License within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with repairs, projects and preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair sewer lines, unclog and lay new sewer lines as needed.
  • Operate trucks and equipment and perform routine safety checks.
  • Communicate clearly with Supervisor and Warehouse Storekeeper regarding repairs and parts.
  • Maintain parts inventory and work without supervision; on-call when required.
  • Ensure compliance with State and DEQ regulations.

Job description

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Assist with repairs, projects and preventative maintenance of all machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair sewer lines; repair and replace sewer lines due to leaks; unclog sewer lines; lay new sewer lines as required.
  • Operate pneumatic and hand tools; operate all equipment and trucks; clean and maintain equipment.
  • Must be able to explain and take directions via phone from Supervisor and Warehouse Storekeeper, when necessary for needed repairs
  • Help maintain a parts inventory
  • Must be able to work without supervision; must be able to work "on-call".
  • Operate trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Operates trucks and construction or power equipment, such as mechanized broom, backhoe, man-lift, dump truck, snowplow, front-end loader, hydraulic excavators, skid steers and jetter truck.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Certificates and Licenses:
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL Driver’s License.
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 12 months ODEQ Class “D” Operator License or higher.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of State and DEQ regulations governing the operation of a wastewater collection systems.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with supervisors, peers, salesmen and suppliers, both verbally and in written form; must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must have basic math skills.
