Job summary

Matrix Service Company in Washington State is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to work under the direction of the General Foreman or Superintendent, operating backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders and trenchers on construction projects. The role requires 4+ years of heavy equipment experience, strong safety knowledge, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• 4+ years heavy equipment operator experience, refinery environment preferred.
• Must pass equipment test and visual observation of operating equipment.
• Able to run forklifts, manlifts, etc.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics and manuals.
• Must obtain and maintain TWIC card, 20-hour high hazard facility training, and pass background and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment (backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, trenchers).
• Position loads with hoisting attachments (hooks, slings, electromagnets, buckets).
• Conduct daily inspections to ensure safe, efficient operation.
• Support construction and maintenance activities with forklifts, extend-a-booms, and bundle trucks.
• Train and supervise apprentices as needed.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to resolve issues.
