Job summary

Matrix Service Co is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator in Washington state to operate a range of machinery, perform daily safety checks, and support construction and maintenance tasks. The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols and effective communication with crew.

Four years of heavy equipment experience, TWIC credential, and ability to pass tests are essential; a journeyperson status is preferred. Competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four (4) years’ heavy equipment operator experience, preferably in refinery environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and protocols.
  • Must be able to pass equipment test and visual observation of operating equipment.
  • Able to run several types of equipment (forklifts, manlifts, etc.).
  • Able to communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and other departments about issues and solutions.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; ability to read technical schematics and manuals.
  • Complete the Company’s Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client/Site specific training.
  • MUST obtain and maintain active status within the appropriate drug testing program.
  • MUST pass background check.
  • MUST have TWIC card.
  • MUST have a 20-hour high hazard facility training card.
  • MUST have Verification of 8,000 craft related hours OR Graduated journeyperson status preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supports the Company’s safety and core values.
  • Represents the Company with high moral standards while following the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Performs duties within a precise limit or standard of accuracy (Quality Control).
  • Performs loading and unloading of equipment and supplies.
  • Precisely positions equipment and lifts heavy machinery and components.
  • Operates joystick controls to lift, move, and position loads using hoisting attachments.
  • Communicates with team members verbally and by signal instructions.
  • Operates equipment to dig trenches and holes to spec.
  • Conducts daily inspections for safe, efficient operation.
  • Operates forklifts, extenda booms, and bundle trucks to support construction and maintenance.
  • Works well with supervision and may train apprentices.
  • Performs other duties as required.
