Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Texas to support daily operations by safely operating loaders, excavators, graders, dozers, and haul trucks. You will transport raw materials, load finished products, and help maintain roadways and loading areas.

New Hire Orientation is required in person at the Dallas Corporate Office, with travel reimbursements for long commutes. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED, 1+ years of experience, and a strong commitment to

Position Summary

Under the immediate direction of the Lead person or Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator plays a key role in supporting daily operations by safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment, including but not limited to the 988/992 loaders, excavators, motor graders, dozers, and 100-ton haul trucks. This position is responsible for transporting raw materials from railcars to stockpiles and loading finished products for distribution.In this role, you will also help maintain roadways and loading areas to ensure safe, reliable, and productive operations across the business unit. Success in this position requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.New Hire Orientation & Safety Training RequirementAll newly hired employees are required to attend New Hire Orientation and Safety Training in person at our Corporate Office located in Dallas, Texas. Attendance is mandatory and is a condition of employment.To support employees traveling to attend training, mileage and approved travel expenses will be reimbursed for individuals whose commute to the Dallas Corporate Office exceeds 50 miles, in accordance with company travel and reimbursement policies. Additional details regarding travel arrangements and reimbursement procedures will be provided prior to the training date

Requirements

• Operates various mobile equipment, including motor graders, track mobiles, and haul units
• Performs daily pre-shift inspections on equipment
• Performs preventative maintenance on service mobile equipment. Reports needed repairs to Coordinator
• Follows safety rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by the MSHA/OSHA & policies
• Provides relief in other plant operations such as rail unloading, maintenance, quality control, and scale house
• Demonstrates a positive, upbeat attitude and energy level toward teammates, peers, and customers
• Responsible for maintaining quality of all products
• Assist with equipment and plant repairs, maintenance and housekeeping as needed
• Other duties as requested by management

Preferred Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalency preferred1+ years heavy equipment operating experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protectionMust have the physical ability to climb stairs to a height of 100 ft. and work at this heightMust have the physical ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as requiredMust be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipmentLift up to 50 lbMust be able to walk across steep/rough terrainMust be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per dayAbility to use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

Working Conditions

Will work in varied outdoor environments (in all weather conditions - heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions). Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs. The incumbent will be exposed to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricant.
