Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a plant-based Loader/Operator to join the team in a safety‑driven environment. You will load aggregates, feed the plant, and prepare material for processing while keeping trucks loaded to specification and within legal limits.

Expect to monitor material quality, maintain stockpiles, and participate in routine inspections and maintenance. The role requires the ability to work overtime and endure outdoor conditions, supporting a large national operation.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience operating loaders and dozers in a plant environment preferred.
• Solid knowledge of equipment capabilities and specifications of different finished materials.
• Familiarity with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.
• Hazard recognition skills.

Responsibilities

• Champion Safety: Prioritize safety for self and others and report unsafe conditions.
• Operate Mobile Equipment Loaders: Load aggregates, feed plant, and load trucks to spec within limits.
• Monitor Materials: Maintain feed and stockpiles; visually inspect materials for specs.
• Perform Inspections and Maintenance: Do pre/post trips, report maintenance needs, assist with housekeeping.
• Monitor Processes: Observe plant operations and report needed adjustments for safety.

What You’ll Do

• Champion Safety: Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Follow established traffic patterns, avoid hazardous conditions, and immediately report unsafe ones.
• Operate Mobile Equipment Loaders: Load aggregates for processing, feed the plant, and safely load customers’ trucks with the desired specification product within legal load limits. Operate a loader to strip and prep the mining site and push material closer to the feeder for processing.
• Monitor Materials: Maintain an adequate feed of materials and maintain stockpiles. Visually inspect materials for compliance with specifications.
• Perform Inspections and Maintenance: Perform thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports. Observe the plant and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required. Clean yard and plant areas. Participate in maintenance, repair, and general plant housekeeping activities.
• Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Monitor the plant and operations and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required to ensure safety.

Skills You’ll Need

• Experience: 2 years of experience operating loaders and dozers in a plant environment preferred.
• Functional and Safety Knowledge: Solid knowledge of equipment capabilities and specifications of different finished materials. Ability to recognize various products by sight and understand proper plant operation. Familiarity with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations. Hazard recognition skills.
• Flexibility: Ability to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noises.
• Ready to Drive: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Respond to inquiries promptly and follow through to address issues.
