Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support our heavy civil construction and demolition projects. The role involves daily safety checks, equipment maintenance, and coordinating with site management to keep operations efficient.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of heavy equipment experience, GPS proficiency, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. Union membership with IUOE or willingness to join is required or strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • GPS experience preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
  • Must be able to perform a try-out during the interview process.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Position functions in the field (100%), in all types of weather conditions.
  • Current Union Member in good standing with the IUOE, or willingness to become a member.
