Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a heavy equipment operator for our Durham mine. Under direct supervision, you will operate mobile heavy equipment to move raw materials from pit to plant, with a day shift of 6 am to 5 pm.

Responsibilities include performing pre-shift inspections, assisting in plant repairs, and maintaining equipment while adhering to MSHA safety rules. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Learn to operate all mobile equipment including haul truck, motor grader, water truck.
• Assist in plant repairs and clean-up.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and report repairs to shop personnel.

Job description

Martin Mariettais currently looking to bring in a heavy equipment operator and plant maintenance at our Durham mine. Under immediate direction of supervisor, the equipment operator would be responsible for operating mobile heavy equipment to include haul truck, motor grader, water truck, etc. to bring raw materials from pit to plant in a safe and efficient manner at maximum loading capacity. This position will be working theday shift with operating hours of 6 am - 5 pm.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to or willing to learn to operate all other mobile equipment, including haul truck, motor grader, water truck, loader and crane.
• Assist in plant repairs and clean-up.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspection on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment. Report needed repairs to shop personnel.
• Responsible for good housekeeping of equipment.
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Perform duties with minimum supervision.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must have a valid driver's license

Preferred Education and Experience

• 1 year experience operating heavy mobile equipment.
• Maintenance, Welding, Military or Material Handling Experience
• Bi-Lingual is a plus

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be able to read equipment operating manual.
• Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection report.
• Must be able to communicate in English on radio or CB.
• Possess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reports.
• Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
• Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner.
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges.
• Proven ability to work in a TEAM environment.

Working Conditions

The job will require operating large equipment which is typically air conditioned. There will be times when outside assignments that may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc
