Job summary

Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors in Northern Virginia is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate construction equipment and prepare job sites. You will perform pre-inspections, coordinate with teams, and ensure safe ground conditions while following PPE and OSHA standards.

The role requires 3–5 years of equipment operating experience with 1–3 years of excavation work, and a valid CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3–5 years of equipment operating experience in a construction environment; 1–3 years excavation experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may apply.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment safely to minimize risk of injury and property damage.
• Drives and controls equipment; collaborates with partners to prepare job sites.
• Performs pre-inspections and ongoing maintenance checks on equipment.
• Inspects surroundings and maintains safe distances; communicates clearly by radio or signals.
• Notifies supervisor of maintenance needs and documents required reports.
