Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
City of Philadelphia – Office of Human Resources seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator 1 to perform complex vehicle operations in roadbuilding and earthmoving projects. CDL Class A or B may be required depending on assignment, with residency and examination steps to qualify for an open-competitive list.
The role includes operation of large machinery, coordination during multistep tasks, and occasional physical labor when not operating equipment.
This is skilled heavy-duty vehicle operations work, involving such equipment as earthmoving and roadbuilding vehicles, small mobile equipment with crane attachments of limited flexibility, or compactors with multiple axles or high density.
Work is distinguished from the lower-level equipment operations classes by complexity of operator functions performed, which require a substantial degree of coordination. Work may include light or heavy physical labor when not operating equipment or driving it to and from the work site. Work is performed under the supervision of crew chief or supervisor.
