Job summary

Turner Mining Group is seeking workers to perform labor on construction and stream restoration projects. You will operate excavators, dozers, and other machinery, install mats, fences, and riprap, and assist the team while following OSHA safety standards. The role requires staying alert on uneven terrain, lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, and frequent travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with heavy equipment operating principles.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to insurer.
  • Trade school is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew.
  • Operate heavy equipment and machinery, including excavators, dozers, farm machinery, and off-road trucks required for the construction, maintenance, and repair of stream restoration projects.
  • Use hand tools such as sledgehammers and various other equipment and instruments.
  • Perform duties such as installing coir matting, wooden stakes, filter fabric, safety fences, or silt fences, spreading seed and straw, or assisting other team members in setting up bypass pumps.
  • Successfully execute multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively communicate using hand signals.
  • Perform all duties in conformance with OSHA and all applicable safety regulations and standards.
  • Read, interpret, and understand project plans and construction specifications.
  • Prepare worksite, load, unload, and stage construction materials.

  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand written sentences and paragraphs in workrelated documents, including site plans and construction design documents. Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% or more of the time.
  • Ability to move about on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to move heavy objects and tools while using abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Position requires constant movement and use of limbs, excellent manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
  • Must have the ability to regularly use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Working Conditions:
  • Requires working in outside weather conditions with frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions, extreme heat (above 90 degrees F), and extreme cold (below 32 degrees F).
  • Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and/or uncomfortable.
  • Requires working in muddy ground conditions.
  • Requires regular work near moving mechanical parts and vibration in a loud environment. Other Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with heavy equipment operating principles.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Wildlands’ insurance carrier. Preferred:
  • Experience with GPS Machine Grade Control preferred.
  • Specific knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in stream restoration and site preparation is preferred.
  • Trade school is preferred. Hours and Travel:
  • Full-time, non-exempt. This position frequently requires overtime.
  • Frequent out-of-town travel is required.
