Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Bulldozer Operator to operate a tractor equipped with a concave blade to gouge, level, and distribute earth in site preparation for roads and buildings.

You will follow engineering drawings, observe safety protocols, and work in dusty environments. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; apprenticeship certification may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification and apprenticeship completion may be required.
• Experience in heavy equipment operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
• Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, and power takeoff to tractor to provide power.
• Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Operates tractor to level terrain and achieve grade as directed.
• May grease, oil, and repair tractor equipment.

General Summary

Operates tractor equipped with concave blade attached across front to gouge out, level, and distribute earth and to push trees and rocks from land preparatory to constructing roads and buildings.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
• Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
• Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
• Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade.
• May grease, oil, and repair tractor.

Education

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience

Certification

• Proper certification required
• Completion of an apprenticeship program required.

Work Experience

• Appropriate training and experience required

• Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
