Job summary

Robinson, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely maneuver cranes, lifts, forklifts, and related machinery on busy Wisconsin job sites.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience in construction or similar 'figure it out' settings.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery.
  • High attention to detail with focus on safety and quality.
  • Track record of working safely and promoting safety with others.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with teammates and external partners.
  • Familiarity with blueprints, site plans, and safety codes.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness to contribute ideas to improve safety, efficiency, and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment in a fast-paced indoor and outdoor environment while picking, setting, rigging, loading, unloading, traveling, and stacking manufacturing product.
  • Prepare and maintain a safe work environment with cross-team communication and proper lifting gear.
  • Perform daily and periodic inspections of work area, equipment, and rigging.
  • Identify and communicate the need for maintenance, repair, or replacement of equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear PPE; use hand signals, radios and other communication.
  • Report all safety issues and near misses.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and support leads to ensure efficient product flow and deadlines are met.
  • Document work performed, product placement, maintenance paperwork, and other records.
  • Offer suggestions for improvement such as equipment needs, space saving techniques, and communication paths.

Job description

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A Heavy Equipment Operator safely maneuvers large machinery like cranes, lifts, overhead cranes, telehandlers, forklifts, and other equipment, involving material handling, site preparation, maintenance, and daily inspections; the role requires physical stamina, mechanical aptitude for pre-checks and minor repairs, strict adherence to safety protocols, and coordination with a crew to meet project specs and deadlines.



  • Operate equipment in a fast-paced environment both indoor and outdoor while picking, setting, rigging, loading, unloading, traveling, and stacking manufacturing product.

  • Preparing and maintaining safe work environment with communication between teams and external partners, using dunnage and other lifts as needed.

  • Perform daily and periodic inspections of work area, equipment, and rigging.

  • Identify and communicate the need for maintenance, repair, or replacement of equipment, minimizing downtime and maintaining productivity.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and regulations including wearing PPE and using hand signals, radios, and other communication.

  • Report all safety issues and near misses.

  • Coordinate with manufacturing and support lead to ensure efficient product flow and deadlines are met.

  • Document work performed, product placement, maintenance paperwork, and other documentation.

  • Offer suggestions for improvement such as equipment needed, space saving techniques, and communication paths.


OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all environments.

  • Mechanical aptitude (previous work history in construction, farm, any type of \"figure it out\" environment).

  • Experience operating heavy machinery.

  • High level of attention to detail with focus on safety and quality.

  • A track-record of working safely, and helping others work safely, too.

  • Able to communicate effectively, written and verbally, with teammates and external partners.

  • Familiarity with blueprints, site plans, and safety codes.

  • You like to work in a team, helping wherever needed; but you can also self-start and work on your own.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Willing to contribute ideas to make job and other jobs easier, better, safer, and/or faster.
