Job summary

Diocese of Laredo is seeking an outdoors-focused heavy equipment operator for Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The role involves preparing burial sites and leveling land, operating back-hoe, mini-excavator, and skid steer under the Foreman and Grounds crew.

Immediate start with full-time, 40 hours per week; occasional weekend work as needed. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1+ years with heavy equipment, strong safety awareness, and ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One or more years of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment and safety standards.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (back-hoe, mini-excavator, skid steer) to prepare burial sites.
• Inspect, clean, lubricate and refilling equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment.
• Communicate with foreman regarding repairs or issues with equipment.
• Read and administer processes and duties as assigned.
• Oversee crew and project assignments as operator.

Job Announcement

Start Date: Immediate Location: Calvary Catholic Cemetery

Position Status: Full-Time, 40 hours per week Work Schedule: Five-day workweek, with weekend work as needed

Position Summary:

Work is outdoors preparing burial sites and leveling land within the cemetery boundaries. Works closely with Foreman and Grounds crew.

Essential Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

• Operating heavy equipment such as a back-hoe, mini-excavator and Skid Steer loader as directed by Foreman in order to prepare burial sites and maintain cemetery land in a level condition
• Inspecting, cleaning, lubricating and refilling equipment
• Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment
• Communicate with foreman regarding repairs needed or issues with the equipment.
• Other Duties as Assigned.
• As Operator you are in charge of crew and project assignment
• Read and administer all processes assigned by Director and duties submitted by Office Have general knowledge of maps and directive orders to be completed as assigned

Additional Requirements- Skills, Certifications, and Licenses:

• Must have a valid Texas Driver License and subject to a driving history check. Evidence of state required vehicle insurance and transportation.
• Possession of a commercial driver's license (CDL) or ability to obtain the license.
