Role Description

This full-time, on-site Heavy Equipment Operator role is based in Metro Detroit, MI. The Heavy Equipment Operator will safely operate various heavy machinery, such as excavators, loaders, and pavers, to support asphalt paving, removals, grading, and earthwork on project sites. Daily responsibilities include following project plans and supervisor instructions, performing pre- and post-operation equipment checks, and assisting with site preparation, excavation, backfilling, and material placement. The role also involves coordinating with crew members to ensure efficient workflows, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and adhering to all company safety policies and regulatory requirements. Operators may be expected to work in varying weather conditions, adjust to changing project needs, and support related tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Strong Heavy Equipment and Equipment Operation skills, with experience operating machinery used in paving, excavation, and site work.
• Knowledge of Equipment Maintenance practices to perform basic inspections, routine servicing, and identify potential mechanical issues.
• Hands-on Excavation experience, including trenching, grading, and earthmoving in construction or paving environments.
• Familiarity with Used Equipment performance and limitations to operate safely and effectively across different equipment types and conditions.
• Understanding of asphalt paving processes, grading techniques, and site preparation best practices.
• Commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to OSHA requirements and company safety procedures.
• Ability to read and follow instructions, basic site plans, and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.
• Reliable transportation to Metro Detroit job sites and willingness to work extended or flexible hours as project needs require.
• Previous experience as a heavy equipment operator in construction, asphalt, or civil work preferred.
• Relevant certifications or licenses for equipment operation are an asset.
