Job summary

Synergen is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join its construction team in Louisiana. The role involves performing equipment maintenance, operating heavy machinery, and mentoring junior operators on-site.

You will work outdoors on diverse job sites, read construction plans, apply grade control techniques, and leverage construction technologies while maintaining professional relationships with clients and inspectors.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of equipment operating experience.
• High School Diploma or greater preferred.
• Current Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• General understanding of soil and material properties.
• Ability to interpret survey markers (stakes, hubs, control points).
• Excellent communication skills.

• Perform sloping, stripping, grading, backfilling, and clearing techniques at an expert level.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Perform equipment maintenance in a proficient manner

• Utilize grade control techniques
• Utilize advanced technologies related to the construction industry
• Read, interpret, and implement construction plans
• Mentor and develop Junior Equipment Operators

A qualified applicant must posses the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• At least 3 years of equipment operating experience required
• High School Diploma or greater preferred
• Current Driver’s License
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• General understanding of soil and material properties
• Ability to interpret survey markers (stakes, hubs, control points)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Use hands or fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Exposure to various hydrocarbons including different types of fuel, grease, and oils
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high
• Work environment includes various schedules working outdoors in elements/weather
