A scrap yard in Chicago Heights is hiring an Experienced Mobile Crane/Heavy Equipment Operator for a flex shift (1st and 2nd). This outdoor role uses a mobile vehicle crane to move heavy loads around the yard; minimum 1 year crane experience required. Training schedule Monday–Friday; then 2nd shift after training.

$22/hr, temp-to-hire with growth opportunities. Responsibilities include operating cranes, loading scrap, sorting metals, and assisting with equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• 1 year of mobile crane/heavy equipment experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain mobile cranes and heavy equipment.
• Load and unload scrap and recycled materials using magnets and grapples.
• Sort metals and recyclable materials by grade and type.
• Load shredders and balers.
• Operate additional equipment including forklifts, skid steers, man lifts, street sweepers, water trucks.
• Perform daily equipment inspections.
• Position trailers and containers throughout the yard.
• Assist mechanics with equipment maintenance.
• Use hand tools, torches, sawzalls, banders, and wire snips.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Communicate with customers, drivers, and team members.
• Follow hand signals and radio communications.

A busy scrap recycling facility in Chicago Heights, IL is seeking an Experienced Mobile Crane/Heavy Equipment Operator to join their team. This is a hands-on outdoor position with opportunities to operate a variety of heavy equipment in a fast-paced environment.

This is NOT an overhead crane or stationary crane position.
This position requires operating a mobile vehicle crane throughout the yard.
Minimum 1 year of Mobile Crane experience required.

Schedule

• Training Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day Shift 7am-3pm
• After Training: Monday - Friday 2nd shift 1pm - 9pm
• Must be open to working both shifts as needed

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Climb ladders and equipment safely
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Tolerate dust, dirt, noise, vibration, and changing temperatures
