Job summary

The Scruggs Company in Waycross, GA is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair a variety of heavy equipment. You will diagnose problems, perform repairs, and maintain records using Fleetwatcher, Insite, Cat-ET and JPro.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, welding and fabrication, and ensuring safety and reliability of fleet. Evening and weekend shifts may be required, with competitive wages and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in heavy equipment mechanics.
• Diesel and hydraulics knowledge required.
• Must be able to work days, nights, or weekends.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet MVR requirements.
• Drug testing and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and correct mechanical problems.
• Welding and fabricating as needed.
• Adjusts electrical, hydraulic, engine, transmission, and related systems.
• Diagnose problems and make proper repairs or replacements.
• Use shop tools and equipment safely, including hoists and grinders.
• Maintain clean work environment and follow safety procedures.
• Provide updates to Shop Foreman on all repairs in writing.
• Complete record keeping using Fleetwatcher, Insite, Cat-ET and JPro.

The Scruggs Company, Inc. (TSC) is a growing road construction company. Our company is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our local operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment
• Diagnose and correct mechanical problems
• Welding and fabricating
• Ability to perform a variety of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic adjustments and repairs on gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and heavy construction equipment
• Ability to diagnose problems and make the appropriate adjustments, repairs, or replacements to electrical, hydraulic, engine, transmission, drive train, and mechanical systems
• Ability to use a variety of tools including but not limited to personal tools, common shop hand tools, hoist or crane equipment, grinders, welders, power tools, precision mechanic tools
• Maintain a clean work environment and follow safe practices and procedures
• Provide updates to Shop Foreman on all repairs and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Complete required record keeping and reporting utilizing company software including Fleetwatcher, Insite, Cat-ET and JPro
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
