Salary Range: $30.00 - $45.00 Hourly
The Mechanic position is responsible for performing and overseeing major mechanical repairs, inspections, and maintenance of heavy equipment, Class A trucks, and company vehicles. This role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems to ensure safety and optimal performance. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform major mechanical repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles with minimal supervision.
- Inspect, diagnose, and maintain a variety of heavy equipment and Class A trucks.
- Conduct thorough and accurate annual inspections.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
- Execute welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
- Conduct maintenance and minor repairs of equipment and tools, including checking oil, grease, and fluids.
- Tag equipment requiring additional servicing.
- Estimate time and materials needed for major repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of time and materials for repairs and services.
- Work with various heavy equipment, such as excavators, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, dump trucks, and small tools.
- Order parts and ensure timely delivery for repairs.
- Perform BIT (Biennial Inspection of Terminals) inspections.
- Adhere to and promote safe work habits.
- Communicate effectively with team members and maintain a positive attitude.
- Work irregular hours as needed.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic, specializing in heavy construction equipment repair and maintenance.
- Valid California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Proficient in reading electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Capable of working independently without direct supervision.
- Skilled in troubleshooting various heavy equipment product lines.
- Expertise in welding and fabrication.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong history of safe work habits.
