Job summary

Plycrete in Sarasota, FL is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team. As a Maintenance / Yard Mechanic you will perform routine maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, machinery, and equipment, ensuring safety and reliability.

You will troubleshoot issues, conduct preventive maintenance, manage parts and tools, and assist with yard duties. We offer competitive pay of $23–$25 per hour, health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience maintaining vehicles, machinery, or equipment including heavy machinery.
• Experience: Previous experience as a mechanic or maintenance technician, preferably in construction or manufacturing.
• Troubleshooting: Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with coworkers.
• Physical Fitness: Able to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform manual labor.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and high maintenance standards.
• Certifications: Any relevant automotive or equipment maintenance certifications a plus.
• Cross-training: Be open to cross training on Trailer and Boom Pumps.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, machinery, and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
• Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies and ensure adequate stock levels.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and wear PPE and follow safe work practices.
• Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and hours worked.
• Yard Maintenance: Assist with general yard maintenance tasks and related duties.

• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication, to prolong the lifespan of equipment and prevent breakdowns.
• Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance and repair activities, and ensure stock levels are adequate to meet operational needs.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while performing maintenance tasks, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safe work practices.
• Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and hours worked, to track equipment history and facilitate future repairs.
• Yard Maintenance: Assist with general yard maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and organizing work areas, moving materials, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Mechanical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on experience in performing maintenance and repair tasks on vehicles, machinery, or equipment, including skid loaders, backhoes, mini‑excavators, booms, and cranes.
• Experience: Previous experience as a mechanic or maintenance technician, preferably in a construction or manufacturing environment.
• Teachable: Take advantage of opportunities to cross train on Trailer and Boom Pumps.
• Problem‑solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring all maintenance tasks are performed to the highest standards.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with coworkers to achieve common goals.
