General Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic III will repair, maintain, and assemble diesel and gasoline powered mobile equipment. Tasks include PM services, brake jobs, tire replacements, etc. The role works under general supervision with routine duties performed with minimal oversight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow all safety policies, report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean work area complying with MSHA and OSHA standards.
• Perform repairs based on operator inspection forms.
• Follow preventive maintenance guidelines.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment, perform diagnostics, report findings.
• Assist fellow mechanics, research technical info, requisition parts.
• Complete all required paperwork and maintain accurate records in CMMIS.
• Overhaul engines and major powertrain components.
• Test-drive equipment to verify repairs.
• Fabricate attachments and hydraulic systems from blueprints.
• Assist with parts inventory and complete training modules.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency with maintenance software and data management.
• Intermediate knowledge of diagnostics using manufacturer software/hardware.
• Understanding of preventive maintenance, filtration, fluids, and analysis.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
• Intermediate knowledge of parts, tools, and operating concepts.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certificate or degree from a 2-year college or technical school preferred.
• 5-10 years of related experience required; other combinations considered.
