Job summary

OmniSource in Texas is seeking a skilled Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain shredder equipment and supporting systems to keep operations moving.

You will troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues, install utilities, and follow lockout/tagout and safety procedures. Experience with welding, fabrication, PLCs, and heavy machinery is preferred; dedication to safety and quality is required.

Qualifications

• Understand schematics, hydraulics and pneumatics, blueprints, welding and fabrication.
• Ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot, and find solutions.
• Experience maintaining industrial machinery, preferably shredders or similar heavy equipment.
• Operate maintenance vehicles safely.
• Perform electrical repairs.
• Arc weld with stick and MIG.
• Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Commit to safety and lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance tasks according to manufacturer guidelines.

• React to emergency breakdowns.
• Diagnose mechanical issues with the shredder, identify faulty components, replace worn parts, repair hydraulic leaks, and address malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Assist with installation of utilities and equipment.
• Adhere to all safety protocols when working around the shredder, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Proficient in comprehending schematics, hydraulics, and pneumatic diagrams, mechanical blueprints, welding, and fabricating skills.
• Ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot malfunctions, and find effective solutions.
• Prior experience maintaining industrial machinery, preferably shredders or similar heavy-duty equipment.
• Must be able to operate maintenance vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Must be able to perform general electrical repairs.
• Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks to repair components as needed.
• Must be able to arc weld with stick and mig abilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs without direct supervision.
• Must have working understanding of programmable logistic controllers.
• Ability to thoroughly inspect equipment and identify potential problems before they become major issues.
• Commit to safety practices and follow safety regulations related to operating heavy machinery.
