Job summary

The Sherwood Companies is seeking an experienced heavy equipment technician to diagnose, repair and overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment used in civil construction. The role emphasizes safety, PPE adherence and efficient operation on-site.

Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance, assembling and adjusting equipment, reading manuals and drawings, and testing machines to ensure reliability. Benefits and long-term opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Technical certification preferred or relevant experience.
• CDL license preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Keep work area clean, orderly and safe.
• Provide routine maintenance of equipment.
• Assemble, set up, adjust and/or repair all types of construction equipment and parts.
• Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
• Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
• Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Adjust, maintain and repair or replace subassemblies; such as transmissions and crawler heads using hand tools, jacks and cranes.
