Job summary

Foley Industries, Inc. in Missouri is seeking a skilled diesel/heavy equipment technician to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on CAT earthmoving equipment. The role involves hands-on shop work and travel for training as needed.

The ideal candidate has a Class A CDL or can obtain one within three months, plus solid mechanical knowledge. You will work with a team, test repairs, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Class A CDL required or ability to obtain CDL within three months of start date.
  • Read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications.
  • Ability to drive and valid CDL license required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge including electrical and hydraulics.
  • Experience with diesel engines and heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance on heavy machinery.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform critical repairs.
  • Work overtime as required by workloads and after-hours calls.
  • Perform required DOT inspections on service trucks.
  • Test and verify correct operation after repairs.
  • Travel for training and to assist at other locations.

What You Will Do In This Role
  • Perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance on heavy machinery, diagnose and troubleshoot problems, make recommendations for repairs and perform critical repairs and adjustment
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required by fluctuating workloads and available for after-hours calls as needed
  • Perform required DOT inspections to ensure service truck is in proper, safe working order
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
  • Develop and maintain long‑lasting working relationships with customers
  • Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.
Physical & Working Requirements
  • This role involves hands‑on mechanical work in a shop environment. The employee must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include:
  • Safely and repeatedly lifting components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance
  • Safely lifting, carrying, and lowering components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials
  • Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights
  • Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods
  • Safely operating tools and equipment
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Basic mechanical knowledge including electrical and hydraulics
  • Class A CDL required or ability to obtain CDL within three months of start date
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments
  • Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications
  • Ability to drive and valid CDL license required
